Mandriva Linux 2008

Mandriva Linux 2008 has been released: "We are proud to announce that Mandriva Linux 2008 is now available for download. The result of six months of heavy development and testing, 2008 includes all the latest software and many enhancements over previous Mandriva Linux releases. You will find KDE 3.5.7 and the new GNOME 2.20 already integrated, a solid kernel 2.6.22.9 with fair scheduling support, OpenOffice.org 2.2.1, cutting-edge 3D-accelerated desktop courtesy of CompizFusion 0.5.2, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.6, and everything else you've come to expect from the latest Mandriva Linux release. We have integrated a reworked hardware detection sub-system, with support for a lot of new devices.


About Mandrake Linux
Le système d'exploitation Mandrake Linux a été créé en 1998 pour rendre plus simple l'utilisation de Linux. A un système d'exploitation puissant et stable, mais qui demandait de la part de l'utilisateur de bonnes connaissances en informatique et des rudiments de programmation via une interface en mode texte appelée "ligne de commande", MandrakeSoft a associé un environnement de travail graphique. MandrakeSoft, dans une démarche novatrice, offrait ainsi aux utilisateurs particuliers comme professionnels toute la puissance de Linux dans un environnement facile et agréable à utiliser. L'utilisation de Linux dans une configuration serveur comme en poste de travail n'avait alors plus rien à envier à des systèmes plus établis.
